We are Made for More, Harvest!

As elders and leaders, we are so grateful and humbled by your commitment to the Made for More capital campaign. All together, a total of over $1.8 million has been pledged over the next three years, over and above regular giving, to see more people encounter Jesus. To see more families experience his grace. To see more communities in Simcoe County impacted by the power of the gospel.

We are encouraged by the faith and unity of our church family. We acknowledge the challenges of these times, and the various deep needs in our city and county. We are confident that acting on our 5-7 year vision, we will see God do so much more in the lives of people, and together, in our church, to glorify himself.

The work of faith that started with the Made for More campaign is only the beginning. We look forward to sharing more stories, more updates, and more evidence of God’s faithfulness in the months ahead.

As you remain faithful in fulfilling your pledge, the Made for More campaign will accelerate the vision to see more people come to a vibrant faith in Christ. What began as a prayerful step of faith is now shaping Harvest Barrie’s next chapter, and we are eager to follow God’s leading.

More of Christ.
More of the Holy Spirit. More of God in our lives. More service.
More love.
More witness.
More fruitfulness.

We are deeply grateful for every household that prayed, participated, and gave. God is using your commitment to move the mission forward.

How Much More Will God Do?

We’ve seen God do so much through us over the last 24 years: so many lives transformed, families restored, and churches planted. And we’re not done seeing him work!

God has invited all of us to be part of, and to grow along with, this mission. This is a call to stretch our faith in obedience and partnership. We want to see better disciples through life-giving relationships, gospel-centred care, and spiritual renewal. And we want to see more disciples by expanding our reach, planting new campuses, and boldly proclaiming the gospel wherever God opens doors.

Our Objectives:
Better Disciples.
More Disciples.

By responding in faithful obedience, we anticipate that we can accelerate our 5-7 year vision in a number of ways. As God continues to provide through your committed generosity, we will follow as he leads us into this new season of gospel-focused growth.

Relying on God’s provision and the opportunities he provides, the below represents approximate timing of the vision initiatives.

BETTER DISCIPLES – GROWING IN DEPTH

  • Complete kitchen renovations to enable deeper community life
  • Resume annual focus on gospel partners
  • Retire Harvest bonds owing and bank mortgage
  • Hire new key staff to support discipleship, young adults, and overall ministry growth

MORE DISCIPLES – EXPANDING IN BREADTH

  • Position for future expansion and property opportunities at 7 George Street
  • Plant one new campus in Years 1–3 and two more by Year 5
  • Acquire facilities for existing campuses
  • Increase partnership with Acts 29 churches globally to plant more churches

MORE people encountering Jesus. MORE churches.

You have one life.
That’s all.
You were made for God.
Don’t waste it.
—John Piper

The gospel is not that we give in order to get, but that we give because we’ve already been given everything. – Tim Keller

In faith I will sacrifice gift-giving to my grandchildren (less, not completely). I’m on a fixed income now but God has been so FAITHFUL to provide. Trusting him now.

Giving up eating out at restaurants and ordering food delivery.

We are setting aside retirement planning.

I will keep driving my old car rather than replacing it.

Delaying home renovations and cancelling vacation plans.

I will be working overtime hours to keep our pledge which also means sacrificing family time.

We don’t know how we will fulfill our pledge. We are trusting God to show us the way.

We’ll sacrifice the ability to gift our children and grandchildren as well as to travel. And we’ll sacrifice our time as our commitment to Harvest grows.

We’re looking forward to watching how God will move to provide when we don’t have resources to give.

We will be donating from maturing GICs.

I’m adjusting areas where I can give up unnecessary spending like Christmas gifts.

In the last several years the Lord has shown himself to me. Now I’m giving back, skipping vacations and fancy electronics. As he is devoted to me, I will be devoted to him.

We’re giving a portion of our retirement savings to invest in God’s work here at Harvest. We trust in his ongoing provision.

I surrender all. There is nothing material that we need. God has been so good to us! As has this church that has become our family. We will continue to serve him any way we can.

Thank you for the opportunity to stretch and grow, to go past doubt and caution. May we each feel a “pinch” at least. Giving up a newer car and more vacation.

Giving up security that might have been found in a newer car or savings for repairs and the security of our financial position leading to retirement.

FAQ

Our campaign goal is based on paying all of the remaining debt associated with our mortgage and Harvest bonds. While paying down a mortgage is hardly what anyone would call “visionary”, we see paying it off as an important mark of good stewardship. The current $2.4 million that we owe costs us $180,000 per year in interest and principal payments. Paying down a significant portion of this at our next renewal (April 2027) will reduce these payments so that those funds can grow the church and the various campus ministries that we believe God is preparing us for.

Wendy Brouwer, our Finance Director, is the only person who will know the details of who pledges how much. We treat all matters of individual giving with strict confidence. After making a pledge, Wendy will send you a follow-up email to ensure that the details of your pledge are accurate. Throughout the 3-year duration of your commitment, Wendy will also provide statements to help you track your giving against your pledge amount.

When you are ready to fulfill part or all of your pledge, check out harvestbible.ca/give for all the details on ensuring your donations are designated correctly. Instructions are provided there for both online and physical donations.

Planting a campus ministry in a new location is dependent on some critical components, including a campus pastor, a location, a core group of volunteers, and other things. We believe the campaign will accelerate our ability to plant a campus, but we remain open to seeing which doors God will open first. Innisfil, Orillia, and Collingwood are where we see the greatest opportunities, but we are committed to the Lord’s leading in both the where and when of each location.

God has given us a unique expression of the church at Harvest; if you’ve attended for any length of time, or attended another gospel-centred church, you’ll know there’s something different about the way we do ministry that appeals to many. Planting a campus is the most practical way to deliver on the campaign vision for more people encountering Jesus deeply. Not only does a new campus provide more opportunity for people to meet Christ in communities like Innisfil, Orillia, and Collingwood, it also creates more room for us to minister in our main Barrie Campus.
