Jesus’ Name Had Become Known
Why is it that some people are more prone to unpleasant things happening to them than others? It’s weird, right? Some people are prone to losing their keys, while others have a tendency of getting into car accidents. Or maybe you’re the kind of person that is very clumsy by nature. (There is usually at least one in each household.) The one area where we all struggle is in the area of sin. It’s in our nature. And because of this, we need Jesus. We need him because only he can save us from our sins and the consequences of it, which includes eternal separation from God (Colossians 1:21-22), and death (Romans 6:23). Praise God that he sent his Son Jesus to die for us and that he calls many to be redeemed and saved! Join us this Sunday as we go through Mark 6:14-29 and we will see the importance of knowing Jesus, and therefore realize just how much we need him in our lives. Spoiler alert: We need him A LOT! In fact, he is ALL we need.

When I see the mess I make, I will acknowledge my need for…
…the real Jesus (v. 14-16)
Hebrews 4:14-16
…pursuing him daily (v. 17-26)
Millions call themselves by His name, it is true, and pay some token homage to Him, but a simple test will show how little He is really honored among them. Let the average man be put to the proof on the question of who or what is ABOVE, and his true position will be exposed. Let him be forced into making a choice between God and money, between God and men, between God and personal ambition, God and self, God and human love, and God will take second place every time. Those other things will be exalted above. However the man may protest, the proof is in the choice he makes day after day throughout his life.

…over bitterness (v.19-20, 24-25)
…over worldly approval (v.26)

…no matter the cost (v. 27-29)
