Welcome One Another
Throughout the summer, we have been challenged to be the church in every area of our lives. This week, we’ll consider what it means to welcome one another according to Scripture.
When you have guests in your home, you generally don’t expect them to cook the meal for themselves, do you? I imagine you probably don’t expect that they will bring you a gift, clean up your house afterward, or return the invitation, either. Placing these conditions on your hospitality would make things feel unpleasant, forced, and cheap.
Every one of us has struggled in the relationships we have with other believers and, at times, failed to be truly welcoming. Sometimes we fall short in reflecting the image of Christ as we’re called to. This message will challenge us to grow in this area, as we close out our One Anothers summer series. We’ll be reminded that as members of God’s family, we are called to welcome one another the way Christ has welcomed us, taking his unconditional and sacrificial love into account.
I encourage you to read through Romans 15:1-7 before you come, praying and asking God to speak to your heart. I would also appreciate your prayers as I study and prepare to preach.
