DEREK TIMGREN
Worship Director, Alliston CampusDerek was born and raised in Newmarket, where he grew up in a Christian home. For his entire life, Derek’s family has been heavily involved in serving at Newmarket Alliance Church, where Derek himself led worship for 13 years. Derek accepted Jesus into his heart at a young age and was baptized at the age of 13.
In the summer of 2023, Derek married his wonderful wife Josie, who teaches at a Christian school in Newmarket. Their wedding reception was at the Gibson Centre in Alliston.
Years prior, Derek received a prophetic word that he would play a role in planting a church. This vision is now coming to fruition as Derek is dedicated to glorifying God’s kingdom by helping plant a Harvest campus in Alliston.
A significant aspect of Derek’s personal testimony is connected to the song “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury, which is based on the Parable of the Lost Sheep in Luke 15. During a challenging period in his life, Derek prayed to God and received a word in return. God spoke to him by reciting the lyrics of the song’s bridge: “There’s no shadow you won’t light up, no mountain you won’t climb up, no wall you won’t kick down, coming after me.” Remarkably, this song was not yet released; it came out a month later, making this experience with God all the more powerful and confirming the depth of God’s love and reassurance in Derek’s life.
