People want to believe what is true. Nobody wants to face the embarrassment of realizing they were fooled or that they put their trust in the wrong thing or in the wrong people. By nature, getting to the point of believing truth isn’t always so simple. There are obstacles we have to overcome.

First, the truth can be hard to accept. It often points out where we’re wrong, and most of us don’t like admitting that. On top of that, truth may carry certain consequences and responsibilities we would rather avoid.

Second, it has become harder than ever before to distinguish what is true. We’re bombarded with information every day, forced to sort facts from lies. It feels like dishonesty is everywhere. Scams are on the rise, deception is treated as normal (even acceptable), as long as you “come out on top”. In the past few years, we’ve watched AI add another layer of confusion and frustration to it all. But here’s the good news: there is one truth we can always be certain of, and it’s the most important truth. The gospel! While many remain skeptical, many others struggle to live in the daily reality and joy of the good news.

As we continue our Could God Be the Answer? series, we’re going to look at Romans 10:5-13 to see why we can put our faith in Jesus alone, and what blessings come when we believe in him.

When I come to Jesus in faith alone, I…

…rest in his righteousness (v. 5-7)

Romans 5:19

True conversion means turning not only from sin — but also from depending on self-made righteousness. This is the reason that self-righteous people are so angry with gospel preachers, because the gospel does not spare those who will not submit to the righteousness of Jesus Christ!
George Whitefield

…acknowledge him as Saviour (v. 8-10)

…cling to his promise (v. 11)

…delight in his salvation (v. 12-13)
