Everyone Is Looking For You
Time change in Ontario is taking place very soon – Sunday November 3rd. Which begs the question, can you believe we are already here in the calendar?! Hard to believe that Christmas is only 60 days away! It seems like 2024 just flew by. We say this every year, but it certainly feels true this time. Yet, this year went by just as quickly as any other year. Time moved at the same rate as it always does. When we say that phrase, “time just flew by”, it’s usually because we have been so busy, or caught up in a specific activity that we didn’t realize how consumed or zoned in we were. This often brings us to consider how we should make good or better use of our time, because what we spend our time doing shows what is truly important to us. We closed off last week’s message seeing that when we know the real Jesus, we have a desire to join his mission. Unfortunately, the reality is, for many Christians, it is not a priority or a significant part of their lives like it should be. Join us this week as we look through Mark 1:21-45 and see why many people became captivated by Jesus and how this should lead us to become caught up in his mission.

Text: : Mark 1:21-45
October 27, 2024
I will be caught up in Jesus’ mission when I…
…fall under his authority (v. 21-28)
The demonic hordes quake in fear at the thought of Jesus’ arrival. The kingdom of God is invading the Adversary’s domain, and his evil henchmen cower at the awesome authority of the Stronger One.
Mark: Zondervan exegetical commentary on the New Testament / Mark L. Strauss
…am in awe of his power (v. 29-39)
Awe of God really is the only way to be free of fear of what is coming next. When my trust in God is greater than my fear of the unknown, I will be able to rest, even though I don’t have a clue what will greet me around the corner.
Paul Tripp
…am moved by his compassion (v. 40-45)
Romans 6:23
You were created for Jesus. Your mind was created to think about Jesus. Your mouth was created to tell the world about Jesus. Your heart was created to beat with passion for Jesus. Your hands were created to serve Jesus. Your feet were created to follow Jesus.
