Fools Despise Wisdom and Instruction
Have you ever asked someone for directions, only to walk away more confused? Sometimes the instructions we receive in life can do that, too. Unfortunately, we’ve all been on the receiving end of questionable advice and, if we’re honest, we’d have to admit that we’ve probably given some of it out as well. Thankfully, we have God’s Word as the best source to turn to for guidance. It gives us everything we need for life. The gospel shapes not only what we believe, but also how we are called to live. The book of Proverbs, especially, is filled with countless golden nuggets of truth to be heard, received, and applied. These nuggets constantly point us back to Christ.
Which is why, over the next few weeks of this summer, we’re going to spend time exploring some of these words of wisdom found in Proverbs Chapters 1 to 10. We will examine things like whether our words bring life, how well we receive correction, our tendency toward laziness, and what is faithful living. As we do, we’ll see how God equips us with great wisdom as we aim to walk faithfully with and for Jesus.
