The birth of Jesus is a real-life event that took place at a time when real people faced real and hard life situations. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a small, insignificant town in Judea, and since it was under Roman rule, the people lived in constant political uncertainty, injustice, and fear. Peace was incredibly hard to imagine, yet it was in the midst of all this that God chose to bring real hope, joy, and comfort through the arrival of the promised Messiah.

In this four-part sermon series, we’ll explore passages in which Scripture records words of praise, prophecy, proclamation, and prayer spoken at and around the time of Jesus’ birth. These are words that still speak powerfully into our lives today. Each unique declaration invites us to the transformative joy, peace, and freedom that Christ brings. He came to bring salvation, and his invitation still stands today to a world desperate for him, still longing for the hope only he can give.
