Prophecy: Zechariah
Last week we considered Mary’s words in her song of praise and this week we turn to Zechariah. The words he spoke came as a direct response to the birth of his son, John the Baptist. It had been revealed to Zechariah that John would prepare the way for the coming Messiah, so his words naturally point us to Jesus.
For all of us, life can be hard and confusing. We are blessed in so many ways, but the reality is that life isn’t always what we thought it would be. Yet, when we look through life’s rearview mirror, it’s impossible not to see God’s mighty hand at work. He brought us this far, to where we are now, and has much more in store for us. All we need to do is trust God and follow him. We struggle do this, but it becomes easier when we simply behold God in all his greatness. When we do, we are left in awe of him and moved to worship.
This is exactly what Zechariah did, and as he beheld God, he was promptly moved to bless and exalt him. This should also be our response!
